Panjim Church, Panjim» Panjim : Also known as Panaji, it is the capital city of Goa. It is also the most ideal gateway to the others parts of the state. It is popularly known as the seat of the Government. Panjim houses the head offices of most business concerns. It is a perfect amalgam of old and new, the elegant city of Panjim has it own vibrant history. Panaji and is one of the India's smallest and pleasantest state capitals and is located on the south bank of the wide Mandovi River. This city of gardens and statues boast of having tourist places like The Panaji Waterfront, Statue of Abada Faria, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church etc.

» Dona Paula : The place is named after Dona Paula de Menzes, daughter of a viceroy in colonial India. It is said that she threw herself off the cliff, when refused permission to marry a local fisherman. Dona Paula is located 7 kilometers west of Panjim. Dona Paula Beach is nestled on the southern side of the rocky hammer-shaped headlands that divide the Zuari and Mandovi estuaries. Here, there is a wide scope for water sports. Besides this, this place also houses the ruins of the Cabo Fort built in 1540, the Cabo Raj Niwas which is one of the most elegant Governor's residences in India, the Indian Art Emporium and the tomb of Dona Paula housed in a 180 year old cemetery. From the heights of Dona Paula, one can get scenic views of the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary at Chorao, the very old Reis Magos Church and the Mormugao Harbour.

» Vasco-da-Gama : Goa's most cosmopolitan city, Vasco-Da-Gama, also known as Vasco. It lies on the narrow western tip of the Mormugao peninsula, overlooking the mouth of the Zuari River. Vasco da Gama is 29 kms southwest of Panjim, the state's capital and is one of the major tourist hubs of the state Goa. It is also a major industrial and commercial city. Some interesting places to visit when in Vasco include the Pilot Point at Headland Sada, Baina Beach, Japanese Garden, Bogmalo Beach, the Sada Fort, the Naval Aviation Museum, etc.

Shri Shantadurga Temple, Ponda» Ponda : Ponda is just 28 km from Panjim, the state capital Also known as Antruz Mahal, Ponda is known as the Hindu heartland of Goa. It is so called because of the concentration of culture, music, drama and poetry. There are a large number of predominant Hindu temples and monuments. It also houses the largest mosque of Goa. Besides, there is also a wild life sanctuary. The famous temples found in Ponda are Mahalakshmi Temple, Mangueshi Temple, Nagesh Temple, Mahalasa Narayani Temple, Shri Shantadurga Temple.

» Margao : This second lagerst city of Goa is a fine combination of culture and commerce. The main population center of South Goa is Margao, the capital of Salcete Province. It is the cultural capital of the state. The town still has reminders of the Portuguese past. Margao is well known for its its old churches and beautiful traditional houses, besides its old cultural heritage, stunning beaches, traditional customs and warm and friendly people. Margao has interesting tourist places like Portuguese Churches, the Holy Spirit Church, Kesarval Spring, Hari Mandir, Colva Beach and Damodar Temple.

» Mapusa : A small town clustered around the Mount (Alto), Mapusa is the place from where you can buy things of every day need. It forms the hub of North Goa with an even blend of residential and commercial establishments. Its 13 kms away from Panaji, a share-taxi or a bus will take you there. Known popularly for its Friday market, people from all over Goa come here to buy and sell their wares. The bustling market of Mapusa stocked with almost all types of items is one major attraction of the state.

Tiracol Fort, Arambol» Arambol : Arambol or Harmal is situated at a distance of 50 km from Panjim. Prime attractions of this scenic place include the Teracol Fort, the freshwater lake, fishing boats, village churches and stunning beaches. Calm ambiance and gorgeous beaches are a specialty of this village. For a nature lover, Arambol is no less than a paradise. It is also a one place that hosts rocking parties.

» Old Goa : Old Goa is 9 km from the East of Panjim. This is one of the cities in Goa which is very popular for its churches and cathedrals. The relics of St. Francis Xavier, Goa's patron saint are housed in the Bom Jesus Basilica at Old Goa. Thousands throng to this place from all over in the month of December to commemorate the feast of the Saint. Some of the old buildings are converted into museums, maintained by Archaeological Survey of India.

Much popular as the 'the pearl of the east', is blessed with tropical climate. Affected by its proximity to the Arabian Sea weather in Goa is welcoming for the tourists. Goa's balmy tropical weather keep hovering between 24° C to 29° C all the year-round.
